Job Description

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of Provincial Economic Development Agency

Five year fixed term contract

East London

Generous Remuneration market related package

This is an EE appointment

The institution is involved in SMME financing, business advice, industrial/commercial property development and management, and trade and investment promotion services in support of Government’ s mandate to alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment.

The successful applicant will report to the Board of Directors on a 5 year fixed term contract, the CEO will be required to facilitate the development and execution of a Board approved five-year organisational strategy aligned to the province’s Growth and Development Priorities, leverage development funding and partnerships as part of the organization’s turnaround and sustainability drive, build leadership, management and coordination for effective implementation of annual corporate plans.

A fit for purpose candidate will be a candidate that has had experience in organisational turnaround or institutional establishment or post merge and acquisition integration. Understanding the development finance landscape as well ability to large scale multi-stakeholder programmes.

Key Performance Areas include:

Attain financial and operational sustainability of the institution

Lead on the digitisation of the company’s service offerings.

Provide strategic leadership in the management of stakeholder relations across the board; ensure responsible entrepreneurship, ambassadorship, and statutory compliance;

Formulation of policy and contribution to the Board of Directors;

Ensure that the Corporation’s strategies, policies, procedures and resources are effectively and efficiently planned and implemented to comply with the requirements of the PFMA Act;

Ensure that skills development for corporate and unit staff is effectively initiated and implemented,

Essential Qualifications and Experience :

Post graduate qualification in Commerce/ Development Finance.

An MBA/ MBL or relevant masters level qualification will be an added advantage.( highly preferable)

10 years of working experience at an Executive level.

More than 10 years of working experience in SMME and development finance including government, private or parastatal environment
